Hannah + Josh Hartley | Historic Downtown Mobile | Wedding
05/13/2017
I had the pleasure of meeting Hannah a little over a year ago when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I was shooting. She reached out to me a few months later and we began planning for her very own wedding! Some things that really stood out to me about Hannah and Josh’s wedding day was that first and foremost- their friends are family. I work a lot of weddings and see a lot of ‘friends’ standing beside the bride and groom but often times they don’t seem to be a close, tight knit group. That is the exact opposite of this crew! In fact, many of these folks were also bridesmaids in groomsmen in the wedding that I met Hannah at! They have all grown up together, gone off to college together, and are now getting married – together.
Hannah and her bridesmaids started the day off at The Ezell House getting primped and prepped for the big day. Hannah’s veil was made by one of the bridesmaids mothers and was one of many “something borrowed”s. Hannah, her mother Mrs. Catherine, and her MoH Margaret stepped into a private room and began getting Hannah ready for one of the biggest moments of her life. They helped her put the dress on, put on her shoes- which were beautiful by the way!- and perfectly placed a beautiful Magnolia blossom in Hannah’s hair.
When Hannah and Josh were finally ready to see each other for the first time, Josh stood outside by the beautiful water fountain as Hannah waited inside for the signal that she could walk out to meet him. The door opened and Hannah’s nerves kicked in. Who ever says that first looks are not emotional is wrong. She was in tears as she walked to her soon-to-be- husband and he gleamed in awe when he laid his eyes on her! He gave her a twirl and admired the gown and all of her beauty. It was seriously one of the sweetest moments to date.
We went around the building to begin doing their formal couple’s portraits and as we were walking Hannah and Josh were greeted by a sweet guest appearance- their pup! Hannah was so surprised and we happily made sure that there were photos to document the excitement!
We finished the formal portraits and loaded up in the Trolley to head to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church for the ceremony. Catholic ceremonies are so beautiful to me because the marriage includes not only the couple but the entire congregation of guests who have come to support this momentous occasion. Hannah and Josh said their vows, took communion, and shared with their families the love that they have for one another and as they exited the church, Josh stopped in the middle and gave Hannah the sweetest kiss.
Once the ceremony was done and we all arrived back at The Ezell House, the party began and everyone’s nerves were finally put to ease. This day was a success, the ceremony was beautiful and now it was time to eat, drink, and be merry!
The night ended with sliders, a final song from the band, and a sweet sparkler exit to send off the couple.
Congrats to you both, Hannah and Josh! Thank you for letting us help leave your legacy!
