Over the past few weeks I have had the pleasure of getting to know a fellow photographer in our community. I know that he and his wife are humble spirits and they most likely have no idea how impactful they both are to people, including myself. 

I met Matt Gates by attending a Crtv Night at City Hope Community Church in Malbis. Side note: If you have never been to one of these, you NEED to go. It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are to attend. It is a night for anyone who finds themselves in the creative category and it is a place to network and meet other creatives like you. There is coffee, art, music, and classes that help teach “how-to’s”. Matt was my “Master Class” Teacher over the photography department. After our group I found his wife Kirby and I (incredibly nervously) asked her if she and her husband would like to be friends with Kyle and I. I explained that we had very little friends in the area and that they seemed to share some common interests of ours. We exchanged info and went on our way. 

This current Fusion Semester, Matt asked Kyle and I to be a part of the married fusion group that he and his friend (and now ours!) Shaelah were hosting. Matt had mentioned to me one night that he was on the board of Mobile Fashion Week and asked me if I would like to shoot with him during the show. I was floored because he is an INSANELY TALENTED photographer and videographer. 

I nervously showed up the second night after being lost for about 30 minutes. Once I was there it was so much fun to be a part of. The girls were awesome, the boutiques and vendors were incredible, and the designers is our area are out of this world good. These are a few of my favorites from the night. 

Don’t judge me, it was my first time.
